Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL Betting site Betway!
Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
Carolina Hurricanes (@ DET) ML -150
The Hurricanes may be without Sebastian Aho, but the Red Wings are still missing Olli Maatta, who’s been skating on the Red Wings’ best D-pair this season. The two injuries should offset, and the Hurricanes proved they can still win without Aho, dominating the Islanders 3-0 on Saturday. The -150 line seems really thin, as the model views Carolina as -206 favourites.
1 Unit Bet: CAR ML -150
Anaheim Ducks (@ TOR) ML +386
The Ducks are on a back-to-back, and the Maple Leafs are red-hot, but +386? Whenever you see a line like this in hockey, you have to consider it. A +386 line suggests there’s a 20.6 percent chance the Ducks win tonight. The model thinks that’s closer to a 25.2 percent chance. There’s value here, even if the chances are slim. Toronto has won eight of their last nine, but they had a home-ice letdown vs. Arizona already this season. So, you’re saying there’s a chance?
0.5 Unit Bet: ANA +386
Vegas Golden Knights (@ WPG) ML +119
The Golden Knights are shorthanded, missing Jack Eichel, Shea Theodore, Alex Pietrangelo, and Zach Whitecloud. However, they played super well in a losing effort vs. the Bruins on Sunday. They lost 3-1 but won the xG battle 3.1 to 2.1, so they deserved a better fate. A healthier Vegas team has already got the better of Winnipeg this season (2-0), so I like the value you get on the banged-up version at +120.
1 Unit Bet: VGK ML +119
Colorado Avalanche (vs. PHI) ML -226
Aside from a 4-0 loss to the Bruins, the Avalanche have tread water pretty well while missing a ton of bodies. They’re slowing getting healthier, and there’s a chance they get one or both of Evan Rodrigues and Darren Helm back tonight. Once those injuries are announced, you probably won’t be able to get them at -223, so I like taking this one early and hoping for good news to break. They lost in Philadelphia last Monday, and I don’t think they’ll lose two in a row to the Flyers.
2 Unit Bet: COL ML -226
